Oh Hello Oscars!
The Oscars has now been aired on the box to a global audience of more than 100 million people worldwide. While the general public eagerly awaited to see which actors pulled off the best designer outfits and those who failed miserably, we found ourselves reverting away from the obvious red carpet crash couture and gossip, to focus on the good cinema and the actors who've glued us to our screens.
Considered to be the world's most high profile film event, it was a prime target for the media to dissect every designer outfit on the carpet piece by piece, ensuring that any 'celeb' who had committed the ultimate fashion faux pas, will now hear about it until the next ceremony.
Our favourite part of the 83rd Oscars night was of course the 'Foreign Language Film' category! We were a little bit excited to see who won the 'Best foreign film' category, purely because so many of our native translators had tuned in. Here is a list of five prestigious award nominees, all of whom wanted to get their mitts on the filmmaking's highest honour....but there could only be one winner.
Lost In Translation...
Across the world translation plays a big role in conveying messages from one language to another. As we journey to different cultural environments and countries throughout our lifetime, we often rely on these messages to help us through our day and guide us in the right direction.
Anyone who has done a bit of globetrotting will have, at some point during their exploration witnessed some really humorous, politically incorrect mistranslations.......and probably taken a few snaps of them too!
